Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between two-layer and solid wood floorboards?

A two-layer board has a hardwood top layer and a stabilising bottom layer, so it swells and shrinks less than a solid wood board. The top layer can be sanded, but fewer times than a solid board.

Are two-layer floorboards suitable for underfloor heating?

The two-layer construction is more dimensionally stable than solid wood, so when glued to the subfloor it is better suited to underfloor heating. Keep the surface temperature moderate, usually up to 27 °C, and check the product details.

What do the Country, Rustik and Natuur grades mean?

Natuur is a calmer grade with smaller knots and a more even tone. Country and Rustik are livelier, with more knots and colour variation, giving the floor a natural country-house look.
