Frequently asked questions

Which adhesive should I choose for parquet?

Parquet is usually bonded with STP or polyurethane adhesives, which stay elastic and allow the wood to move slightly. Choose the right adhesive for the parquet type and subfloor, and follow the parquet manufacturer's recommendations.

Does the subfloor need priming before gluing?

Often, yes. A primer binds surface dust, improves adhesion and, if needed, acts as a moisture barrier. Whether a primer is needed depends on the subfloor and the adhesive used – see the adhesive's technical data.

How do I know if the subfloor is dry enough for gluing?

The moisture content of concrete and screed is measured with a moisture meter before installation. A subfloor that is too damp can cause the adhesive to lose its bond and the parquet to swell, so don't start installing until it has been measured.
