Frequently asked questions

What does the laminate wear class mean?

The wear class (AC1–AC5) indicates how well the laminate surface resists wear. AC3 or higher suits homes, AC4 suits busy rooms and hallways, and AC5 suits lighter-use commercial spaces. The wear class is listed with each product.

Yes, water-resistant laminates are well suited to kitchens and hallways, as their joints and surface withstand spills for longer. Conventional laminate is not suitable for constantly wet areas, but special waterproof laminate flooring is also available.

Do I need an underlay under laminate?

Yes, laminate is floated over an underlay. The underlay evens out minor irregularities, reduces footfall noise and, on concrete, protects against moisture. Over underfloor heating, choose an underlay with low thermal resistance.

Can I install laminate myself?

Yes, click laminate is easy to lay yourself. What matters is a flat, dry subfloor, a sufficient expansion gap around the walls, and letting the packs acclimatise to room temperature for a while before installation.
