Frequently asked questions

Which flooring is best for kitchens and bathrooms?

Vinyl flooring (LVT or SPC) is the best choice for damp rooms, as vinyl is a waterproof material. For bathroom floors and shower rooms we recommend ceramic tiles. Lacquered parquet or water-resistant laminate also works well in a kitchen, provided spills are wiped up straight away.

What is the difference between parquet and laminate?

The top layer of parquet is real wood, which can be sanded and refinished later on. Laminate is made of an HDF board and a decorative layer protected by a hard-wearing surface – it is more affordable and very durable, but it cannot be sanded.

Can flooring be laid over underfloor heating?

Yes, most engineered parquet, vinyl and laminate floors are suitable for underfloor heating. As a rule, the floor surface temperature should not exceed 27 °C. Underfloor heating suitability and thermal resistance are listed in each product's details.

How much flooring should I order?

Measure the floor area of the room and add 5–10% for cutting waste. For herringbone and other patterns, allow 10–15%. Flooring is sold by the pack, so the product page shows both the price per square metre and the price per pack.
