Linoleum
Gerflor linoleum is made of 98% natural (bio-based and mineral) and 76% rapidly renewable materials, with up to 40% recycled content. Linoleum is produced from natural materials such as linseed oil, wood, limestone, jute and resin. Linoleum does not contain phthalates, plasticizers or mineral oils.
Linoleum is a long-lasting 100% recyclable product that biodegrades in nature at the end of its life. Linoleum is a CO2 neutral product and the most sustainable flexible floor covering.
The product is certified by many eco-labels, including Blue Angel, M1, Floorscore and Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Silver
Linoleums have antibacterial and antiviral effects. Thanks to the linseed oil contained in the product, Gerflor linoleums have naturally built-in antibacterial properties.
Gerflor’s Neocare™ matte linoleum finish is best in its class for micro-scratch and stain resistance, easy maintenance, and does not contain volatile harmful compounds.
The Gerflor linoleum AcousticPlus 4mm thick collection offers 19dB noise reduction, which is the best of the solutions available on the market, and is also ideal for living spaces such as children’s rooms, etc. due to its softness.

Natural Linoleum – A Durable, Natural and Timeless Flooring Choice
Natural linoleum is one of the longest-used and most environmentally friendly floor coverings, and its durability, aesthetics and ecological footprint are still highly valued today. Made from natural renewable materials – such as linseed oil, pine resin, limestone, wood flour and jute – linoleum is the ideal choice for those who value quality, sustainability and a healthy indoor climate.
Why choose natural linoleum?
-
100% natural composition – contains no PVC, phthalates or artificial plasticisers

Antibacterial and antistatic – naturally resistant to microbes, does not attract dust or dirt

A wide choice of colours and patterns – available in classic shades and modern designs
-
A health-friendly choice – also suitable for allergy sufferers and children, as it does not emit harmful compounds
-
Easy to maintain and restore – the natural surface ages gracefully and only needs occasional oiling or waxing
Linoleum composition and properties
What does natural linoleum contain?
-
Linseed oil – the main component, which gives linoleum its flexibility and antibacterial properties
-
Wood flour and cork – provide a natural texture and a slightly springy, comfortable feel underfoot
-
Pine resin and limestone – improve wear resistance and elasticity
-
Jute fabric – the natural backing onto which the linoleum is pressed
Thanks to its composition, linoleum is biodegradable and is often produced CO2-neutrally, making it a truly sustainable choice.
Installation – glue-down, wall-to-wall solution
Natural linoleum is installed by full-surface gluing directly onto a levelled subfloor.
-
For the best result, use special linoleum adhesives
-
Also suitable for use in rooms with underfloor heating
-
Trim-free transitions are possible, especially when using welded seams or special finishing tapes
Linoleum is particularly well suited to public spaces, food handling areas, kindergartens and healthcare facilities, where hygiene requirements are higher.
