Advantages of LVT / SPC Vinyl Flooring
SPC / LVT vinyl flooring is wear-resistant and is resistant to stains and scratches.
Vinyl flooring is also stain-resistant, but not entirely stain-proof, as some substances such as iodine and hair dye chemicals can leave marks on it.
LVT / SPC vinyl flooring does not require frequent maintenance, just cleaning.
LVT / SPC vinyl flooring is a waterproof solution that can be successfully installed in hallways, kitchens, and bathrooms.
Due to its material density, vinyl flooring has low thermal resistance and is very suitable for installation on underfloor heated areas.
By nature, vinyl flooring is a warm material underfoot.
Vinyl flooring has quiet characteristics i.e., there’s no significant noise when walking on it.
LVT can be installed floating without a deformation joint, covering up to 150-200m2 depending on the manufacturer, and SPC can cover up to 20x20m, i.e., 400m2.
SPC has excellent temperature tolerance, allowing the material to be installed in rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows where a lot of sunlight falls on the floor, and the material’s surface temperature can rise above 27 °C. 27 LVT vinyl flooring can expand in size at surface temperatures above 27 °C, 27 causing the connections between the boards to come apart.
Since the bearing structure of SPC is made of stone plastic composite containing limestone, PVC, and stabilizers, it is noticeably stiffer and more stable than standard LVT, which is made of vinyl and plastic. Due to the rigidity of the SPC vinyl flooring and the fact that it is sufficiently thin, SPC can be successfully installed floating over old ceramic tiles or other hard flooring materials glued to the subfloor (except carpets). This situation can lead to considerable savings in renovation costs and time that would be spent removing old ceramic tiles or another adhered flooring material.
SPC vinyl flooring is slip-resistant and antistatic.
Disadvantages
Installing the adhesive version of the flooring can be complex, as it demands a particularly smooth and finely leveled subfloor. If not achieved, defects or roughness of the subfloor might be visible on the installed surface. LVT vinyl flooring might detach from its click joints if the room has floor-to-ceiling windows, and the material’s surface temperature surpasses 27 °C. This problem, however, is not present with SPC floorings. 27 °C.
